Concrete cerebral? Immediate recognition and management


Concrete is a serious risk in football, often underestimated despite the intensity of the shocks. Quick detection and immediate management are essential to prevent serious long -term consequences. The purpose of this article is to sensitize the importance of the importance of recognizing the signs of brain emotion as soon as they appear, in order to guarantee adequate care on the ground. Concrete cerebral? Immediate recognition and management from the margins of the field

In April 2024, the 2018 world champion Raphaël Varane publicly spoke of the cerebral emotion and its impact on his performances. When to suspect a brain emotion?

A brain emotion must be suspected following an impact on the body or head and when the player seems to be differentiated by his usual state. The visible signs of a possible brain emotion are as follows: loss of consciousness or lack of reactivity, the player remains motionless on the ground, confusion, empty gaze, convulsions, face injuries, balance losses, slowness to get up or fall without protection on earth.

Note: 90% of brain commodities are without loss of knowledge!

You shouldn’t just trust this indicator

Current symptoms

The symptoms of a brain emotion are classified into 3 categories: physical symptoms, mood changes and cognitive changes.

In physical symptoms, we often find:

  • heachache
  • nausea
  • Sensitivity to noise and light
  • Strange sensations like “don’t be on your plate”
  • Significant fatigue of neck pain.

Mood changes can be characterized by greater emotion, significant anxiety or even greater aggression.

In cognitive changes, there are problems of

    • concentration
    • memory
    • Feeling for the player for inactivity.

Memory evaluation can be carried out through simple questions such as:

  • ‘Where are we today?
  • Which team scored last?
  • Has our team won the last game? “

A bad answer to one of these questions or hesitations before answering suggests a possible brain emotion.

What if I suspect a brain emotion with one of my players?

What emergency criteria?

First of all, the CRT6 but in the face of the immediate exclusion criteria from the game that requires an emergency medical management (see image 1). In these signs, for example, we find the loss of knowledge, serious headache or intensifying or even a modification of the player’s behavior with significant aggression or agitation. If at least one of the signs are present, the player must be withdrawn from the game and transported to receive medical treatment by a healthcare professional.

Which conduct in case of loss of consciousness?

First of all, you have to make sure that the player will breathe and that the Exhiphys release. Each head lesion to allow a neck injury, the player should not be moved (except for the liberation of the airways) or the removal of the protection of the tooth if there is one.

The player must therefore be transported to the hospital to receive media treatments as mentioned just before.

When should I bring my player off the pitch?

As soon as a brain emotion is suspected, the player must immediately go out and must not reproduce calcium or practice any other activity that ncludes a risk of contact in the head, a risk of falling or collision until it is evaluated by a doctor.

And after the game?

The player should not be only for at least 3 hours. Surprising symptoms should lead to immediate medical care. The player must also avoid the consumption of alcohol or drugs and must not be alone, either a minor or an adult.
Insert, it is important to specify that it is common that the symptoms of brain emotion appear only after the game, which strengthens the need to monitor the player.
